Looking at the glass as half full (of something g-free!)

Posted in Group:

I am g-free and loving it! I have Celiac and had horrible pain along with many other symptoms. I went gluten free and now I am symptom free! I would like to share a bit of positive attitude with you all. Try thinking about Celiac in the sense that you have the control. With a gluten free diet your life can be yours again. How many illness's give that much power to the patient. A person with cancer or heart disease, diabetes or ms (or almost any other disease) has little control over the outcome. There are many things they can do to help but it is not the same as pure control. Is living without gluten easy?....no, but it can be done. Your tummy will thank you.

Very good point, but what about those who are fussy eaters with allergies? I struggle terribly! I'm gluten intolerant as well as lactose intolerant, whilst being allergic to nuts, oranges, and cinnamon. It's a nightmare!

You will clearly have to be extra vigilint!! Many gluten free products are also lactose free. Anything with nuts has to be cleary labelled and I don't think orange or cinnamon are common additives. I admit it is difficult to get started but once you find some products that work for you, you get into a rhythum and things imrove. Good luck!
